Wish I didn't have to do the capitalism and I could watch movies instead. I occasionally write to explain them to myself: https://boxd.it/3OKAn
Many women on dating apps want someone who makes them laugh but all I can deliver is a chuckle of moderate duration and intensity

In related news, a surge is expected in the eyepatch market, with folks saying that the subscription lifestyle is "fucking bullshit, man". More later on this topic

This century really is about people wanting others to know that *they* dislike something.

This sentiment is sponsored by my decision to start posting my letterboxd posts on Plex and this guy giving a thumbs-down to something I wrote. Why are you in my life, fucker

I read about this Ben Solo stuff and I'm like... someone whip out a new testament real quick to teach some folks about the prodigal son. Like, bro. Billion dollars. Ben $olo. Shit

News correspondent, in the Thriller music video universe : yes, Tom, as you just said, it *is* close to midnight, however, there is nothing evil lurking in the dark, this remains an unfolding situation.

Evil : *lurking*

News correspondent: Tom, we actually might have something

The worst Star Wars fan you know, with bewildering confidence: you wanna come back to my place? I call it the moisture farm.

In the future, men will record their podcasts standing up, because sitting down will be considered feminine and passive. Legs will start to shake at the forty-five minute mark in the name of masculinity.

sometimes I think about Tim Blake Nelson and I'm like... what's his fucking name, again?

The next step in watching videos on YouTube is having the sponsor ad interrupted by an ad.

My idea of Alien is that it has always been about how capitalist greed is the greatest anti-life force, and everything that is done in pursuit of always-more (including life) leads to corruption of the principles of nature. The wounds are as literal as they are spiritual.

The Gilded Age is great because every character is like "you don't understand, this is extremely important to me and/or the survival of our paradigm", which everyone can relate to.

Waiting for the finale of The Gilded Age to know what happened to my favourite ruthless capitalist. The agony of loving a character who embodies a system that I despise. I'm a George guy.

There's an actor in the new season of Foundation who is so miscast (to me) that they make every scene they're in painful to watch. As a whole, the new elements don't vibe at all with the established tone, plotlines and characters. Strange feeling.

The end of the new Avatar trailer makes me think of this thing I wrote on my second viewing of The Way of Water. If this comes to pass, then it's a lesson (for those who need to learn it) in how predictability isn't a bad thing at all as long as the execution is impactful.

Just had a brief dream about Steven Spielberg in which he accused *me* of having daddy issues. Sir, I've seen your movies.

You watch Star Wars (1977) and you realise that even Lucas barely cares about how cohesive the whole thing is. There are too many elements and lines of dialogue that build a world that isn't the one he showed us in the prequels. In good and bad ways, his work asks us not to be too precious about it.

Very loudly telling a nurse that she should be paid more because I read books.

Damn bro how much did you spend on those opening credits

Reposting this though I haven't finished reading it, but I agree with the main idea. I wish I knew how to write like this.

I don't know if Eggers thought about what he was doing beyond remaking the 1922 film. Watched a couple interviews and he didn't seem eager to get those ideas across.

I saw the motion picture Inception in a movie theater with a crowd yesterday, and wrote about it.

I like what I wrote, so here :

A ★★★★½ review of Inception (2010)
At his core, Nolan is a romantic. It’s not hard to figure out once you remove the layers of his intellect that, I believe, are an enthusiastic expression of his creativity. He thrives in complex creat...

Ariana Grande is, unfortunately, kind of incredible

John M. Chu can’t direct for shit, so much color and grandeur softened by a profound inability to capture it

Cynthia Erivo, great

This weekend in movies : "The African Queen" and "Charade", both featuring an actress named Hepburn who plays a character who falls in love with the male lead as the story progresses and agrees to marry him at the end. Funny.

This week, both Disney and Apple broadcast episodes of TV shows in which people were shown to have relinquished self-government to AI.

I very much dislike the idea of this sort of dystopia, whether a long time ago or in the near-future of nuclear disaster, being credible and more probable everyday.
