people always stereotype Canadians as being polite, and its not true at all. We are passive-agressive weirdos who live in isolated weird places and the sooner we make peace with that the better

The Crow hooked me as a preteen in a crumbling Seattle theater in 1994.

I've been obsessed with film ever since.

The Crow will never stay buried because grief and loss are universal.

Alisha's book is brilliant and personal.

Alisha has been doing one marvelously original piece after another. It's a pleasure to edit and publish her work. Here's her appreciation of S.E. Hinton!
I haven't shared yet shared clips of my Hinton piece. I believe it ought to be read in full. but here's a bit of me talking, in a refracted sort of way, about a good teacher. I think we take good teachers for granted.

"At a time when much of society looked down on a group of kids fearfully, denied them their humanity, & ignored their pains and happinesses, Hinton gave this much-maligned group a voice and an image,” writes @alishamgl.bsky.social in her ode to author S.E. Hinton’s teenage characters.

i grew up in tulsa and really, really identified with the characters in SE hinton’s novels growing up a punk, and this essay hits all the right notes and does a great job unpacking why those novels (and films) worked so well on me
