Yes you are right. That is why they launched Once.com, where customers can pay once and get access to products to self-host.

This model is under threat now because millions of people want to build. More power to them and more power is coming. If you still cannot see what's happening, that's okay. It's clear how things will end. SaaS is dead.

Then came the big investors. The money captured so much of good open source software, self-hostable software and turned it into a business. Suddenly it became cool to pay monthly for what used to be a one time license even.

Thanks for getting back. I see and it makes sense. I am a long time builder, engineer but I struggle in getting things to grow. Would love to help out in any way I can. I participate in a few founder groups.

I'm more comfortable with tech outside by personal preferences. I prefer Solid over React; but I'm happy with React. I get more velocity. I ignore the differences - since I am not coding.
