Landlords sometimes use templates that have clauses that don't apply! Very good to read and ask. And then get amended in writing.

I was briefly in a position where I had to deal with contracts and the number of people who admitted they just hadn't read it boggled my mind.

The contract wasn't even written to confuse! It was pretty short even!
