I'm sure things will come back over time, but I want my phone to be a value-add, not a detractor. phone, text, email, slack, calendar, alarm, banking, smart home, music and reading - all add value to my life. youtube, reddit, X, bsky - all removed.
I'm not never getting on them again (obviously)...

They got in too much trouble for their planned obsolescence fiasco with ios updates and slowing down phones for "battery performance" so now they've designed products to just disappear. then we blame ourselves, and buy new airpods. Tim Apple always wins.

but, for things that are more "thoughtful" or "meaningful" - I use paper.
I bought a Traveler's notebook almost exactly a year ago, and it's the perfect format (for me) because I have 4 notebooks, with 4 distinct focuses, but I can carry them all together and it's not cumbersome.

I still keep a _lot_ of digital notes (Obsidian) - mostly for technical things - work, personal projects, or things like my shopping list or a reading list. Anything that I might need to share with colleagues, or have available *literally anywhere* with my phone.

I use code with vim bindings, and vim for random tasks regularly. Ideally I want faster performance, less bloat, and better ergonomics with tests. I use tmux so I don’t want to use vscode’s terminal because I just don’t like the keybindings
