Some dude that bikes for groceries most days
There just isn't enough money to plow the sidewalks, so we have to spend the money on the much more expensive plows instead!

Wait, hold on a minute...

If we collect tax money and the elderly man nearby still can’t walk to the McDonald’s for coffee with his friends 4 months of the year - what (and who) is government actually for?

Seriously, why do we rant about declining transit usage when the bus stop looks like this? And it looks like this every winter - my photo library is full of this annual tradition.

I’m burdened with this annual winter phenomenon: is it obnoxious to use my blower to do more sidewalk than just my property or is it helpful and nice

Huge if true

It’s wild that people don’t seem to know that even the Irish were considered by many to not be compatible with “civilization” less than a century ago!

And if a fourplex burns down and gets replaced with a one unit mansion, no public meeting needed. Classism that calls itself “local democracy”.

At this point I’m not sure that ladders even come with rungs anymore

I hear what you’re saying but have you considered the classic: “we do things differently here?”

Absolutely nobody on either side of the spectrum is really talking like a grownup with public finances and it boggles my mind. Sometimes I sound like a raging “fiscal conservative” when I get talking about unfunded liabilities to the municipal crowd.

100%. My last winter work trip to Minnesota got lots of blank stares when I asked about winter tires (and slid all over the place in my rental car).

There’s no waiting list at the new Beer Cave™ at my local convenience store though, Ford knows how to get things done😭

this reminds me I gotta adjust my saddle suspension on the bike, ugh the suffering

I’m a big Apple guy but I like to play PC games.

Before the Steam Deck proved it could be done, I would have insisted Linux gaming was impossible.

The future looks bright for remaining Windows-free!

City councillors seem to endlessly be on international trips to learn and shake hands - why do planners never consider that other parts of the world exist and have solved this stuff already?

The victorians were quite big on peace, order, good governmemt, and festive cheer.

Doesn’t look like the ridership is there to support it, sorry 🥲

He hasn’t seen it yet*, he’ll get back to us once he’s caught up with the news

I know I’m preaching to the choir - but what is the region going to do about generating revenue (infill!) instead of just focusing on costs?
November 18, 2025 at 11:30 PM
They don’t need transparency, that’s for sure.

Tell me again why OAS is such a sacred cow 😵
