The superb Edwin Frank and the NYRB Classics team have done an outstanding job with my 'A Fortunate Man.' In its format, artwork and presentation, the book is a work of art in itself. (Both Pontoppidan and Zweig were quite taken by Nietzsche's idea that we need a grand life-view in our lives.)

I can taste the panic these two felt doing their little stencilling. So casual with ‘own goal’ thinking they had all the space in the world. Look at the chasm between own and goal! Then sudden panic about whether there’s enough room for ‘Neville’. Eventually settling for ‘Nev’ after a crisis meeting
