Don't families already have enough support? There were people shot in an encampment a few weeks ago, and nobody ever asks why they can't get decent indoor shelter options so they don't die while waiting to be housed.

People need to demand better conditions for unsheltered people, & it doesn't stop at Frey (although he's a big part of the problem). If Hennepin gave unsheltered single adults hotel rooms like they do unsheltered parents, encampments wouldn't exist. bsky.app/profile/adem...

Frey hates the homeless so much that he's literally causing the streets to be filled with piss because he's closing all of the city bathrooms. Genuinely do not understand his coalition. Bare minimum for a mayor is half decent sanitation, guy can't even bench the bar.

We shouldn't "tolerate" homelessness either, yet Hennepin doesn't seem very interested in getting hotel rooms for single, childless, unsheltered adults so they don't die before they become housed.

Too bad our local media can't be bothered to actually ask victims of these bad policies what they'd like to see that would get unsheltered people out of encampments, and indoors where they would be safer until housed, but I guess that's just too much of an ask. bsky.app/profile/dbra...

Continues to be striking how, since Frey erected the greenway fence to Lake/Nicollet, the crowd has returned en masse to 2900 block of Blaisdell. Frey bleats “you can’t have encampments by home & businesses“ but that’s exactly where he’s pushed these folks. Meanwhile 50 housing vouchers go unfunded.

Emergency HOTEL/MOTEL vouchers would work better. If Hennepin would have at least a hotel/motel in Mpls, and a couple more in bordering suburb, we probably wouldn't have people outdoors in encampments.
