Top DOJ officials quit after their division refused to probe Minnesota ICE shooting www.ms.now/news/doj-civ...
A new spate of Justice Department officials quit because their section didn't want to probe Renee Good's shooting
At least four leaders of the Civil Rights Division resigned because the section's head, Harmeet Dhillon, decided not to investigate shooting of Renee Good.

US citizens do not have to show ICE any proof of citizenship. Takes guts, but she did it right.

OMG the kicker to this 🧵
Tonight my third grader had his grade-wide school concert. So many families were missing they had to set up a live feed for them to watch and sing along at home.

This is a such a powerful interview between humans wanting to do the right thing for their communities. It’s worth every minute to hear from legal observers who were thrown into Whipple for no legal reason. Kudos to @janashortal.bsky.social. I’m inspired and fear diminished.

For lawyers in Minnesota who want to resist the ICE occupation: forms.gle/YK9mVYTft1Lt...

So many folks in our legal community are ready and eager to get involved. But right now, a lot of work is being done in a decentralized way, by groups without bandwidth to organize. Let's coordinate efforts.

Need help from civil rights lawyers in my feed: ACLU says if stopped by cops, produce license/reg/proof of insurance, roll down window slightly, hands on dash, don’t answer Qs, ask for lawyer, etc. Question: what if you’re stopped by ICE? They’re not cops. Same procedure? Must produce docs?

Anyone have a dashcam model they’d recommend?

It's worth reminding each other every couple days that every delay you create, every horrible opportunity you deter means someone gets home to their family, might even mean someones actual life is saved. All of it is worth it.

Gotta take the small joys where you can find them: the construction equipment blocking the 2700 block of the new 1st Avenue bike lane is gone. Smooth-ish winter bike sailing from Cecil Newman to Franklin for the 1st time!

🧵 - especially interesting later post about the Twin Cities Hispanic population, I did not realize. ICE is gonna cover a lot of ground.
The racial and ethnic geography of the Twin Cities is important to why ICE actions are occurring throughout the metro area and beyond. Although the two core cities have a lot of non-white and immigrant populations, most of the non-white population lives in the suburbs.

Per livestream, it appears barricades are being built around the Whipple building in MN, a fixture of anti-ICE protests.

It resembles actions take at the Broadview DHS facility in IL.

One protester holds a sign referencing Bishop Whipple, the building's namesake. www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6_j...

Hey, a note as we head into a new week:

Hope is never misplaced and never wrong. Having hope for something means you haven't given into despair. Despair is what they are trying to create so that you give up.

But as long as we have hope for a better world, they cannot crush us.
