Wild. Good for them. I know you can’t share names with me but you can give them my name & number. Would love to touch base.

whoa - would guess they skew sub-50-years-old. How wealthy?

Slightly off the point but I will never not be amused by Point of Sale and Piece of Shit have the same abbreviation.

Jim Meyer is an old friend and this isn’t his way. Is this a Mariam Demello joint? There’s at least one determined loose screw in that ward I know of. Spill, those of you who know what weirdness is afoot!

Kupchella obviously isn’t objective either, but you can see how he shades his facts (comparing crime rates in the least favorable time frames is just one example) and judge fairness. I think I got by in my day by never hiding my beliefs but also being straightforward in presenting the goods.

Some people might say, “Taylor opposes Frey, why should we trust her reporting?” and as an alt-weekly vet who used to beat the Strib on this stuff I respond, “look at her facts; it’s basic shoe-leather reporting. It’s easy as shit for “objective’ mainstream media to do. They just don’t do it.”

New/old — and extremely clumsy — landlord PAC just dropped. (Intentionally dropped late in the cycle.) Taylor continues to outpace local political media on the money stuff — read her 🧵

Two PACs are now operating in Minneapolis ahead of the November 4th election, and both are connected to one man.

If you think these aren’t coming to Minneapolis let me introduce you to the mayor who helped usher in Uber to kill the cab industry. Your turn, Uber drivers.

Well, here it comes: @toreyvanoot.bsky.social reports that Waymo has hired lobbyists in Minnesota and been talking to state lawmakers, looking for legislative approval to operate in MN

Has Mayor Frey issued a response to the Kupchella doc or is he just silently nodding in assent that his political fortunes are somore how helped by trashing the city he governs?

While they’re certainly throwing the book at progressives, I don’t see any flopsweat from Team Frey that leads me to think their polling shows a problem. But that’s obviously inferential. And my predictions often fail due to my pessimism.

Bought both, thanks!

Now conspiring to get them to take over the Sun Street space when that bakery closes next year. (ICYMI: bringmethenews.com/minnesota-li...)

Yeah I vaguely remember them saying it was concentrated in the national distribution arm but I could be wrong & orgs tend to downplay front-line layoffs.

Old news to St. Paulites but I’ve discovered my new favorite bread baker: Razava Bread. They came to the Kingfield Farmers Market one week & I bought their miche and OMG. Might get me over to StP Grand Ave but good news is, they also deliver! www.razavabread.co

Frey’s proposed 2026 budget defunds them, but emergency housing vouchers are funded in the 2025 budget; MPHA implemented the operational needs to get vouchers out in Q3 for resident use. It’s now Q4 & sitting in CPED. 100 vouchers could be in use right now: 50 for single residents, 50 for families.

Continues to be striking how, since Frey erected the greenway fence to Lake/Nicollet, the crowd has returned en masse to 2900 block of Blaisdell. Frey bleats “you can’t have encampments by home & businesses“ but that’s exactly where he’s pushed these folks. Meanwhile 50 housing vouchers go unfunded.

Definite “'It's one banana, Michael. What could it cost, $10?‘“ moment from Ward 10’s Lydia Millard. Renters need protection now, not when your pigs fly.

"the best rent control is a thirty year mortgage" is a hell of a thing to say in a ward that's majority renter.

if i could buy a house, i wouldn't need rent stabilization, LYDIA.

Ya know what makes people not want to get out of their home? Constant fear mongering about how uptown is both dead and insanely dangerous and full of crime. I wonder which candidate is doing a bunch of that 🤔

Millard says take your neighborhood back: "So we have people in this neighborhood who have a vested interest in this neighborhood who need to get activated. It is time for you to get out of your house. It is time for you to come to door knocks. It is time for us to take our neighborhood back."
