My husband of 19 years @kevingaustin.bsky.social passed away suddenly on 11/11/24; our cats died that year too & my parents in the year before that & it is A LOT. 💔

I do post about other stuff too...

I just gave as part of this match. I tell you the sick times saves lives. It is the best new source on the ongoing pandemic

A Spotify playlist I shared previously has (or tries to have) 186 songs, this YouTube playlist has 176.

Picture 1990s Laurel ordering CDs and ripping them to collect all these songs and then putting them in a playlist in Winamp or something. I don't think I ever tried burning them to CDs . . .
Homicide's arrival on streaming should've led to positive talk about the outstanding use of. music on the show. But alas . . .

Oh cool, someone made a playlist on the 'Tube with most of the songs featured on the show. (I know there's a Spotify list too IIRC.) 🧵

Great thread that includes useful info for folks in Minnesota in particular.

Oh right, I was looking at and posting about deals and some of them are ridiculous (and some of the pricing makes no sense). As ever, I prefer physical media but DVD/Blu-Ray sets for TV shows rarely come with digital codes so . . .

(& some of these aren't out on DVD or DVDs are out of print.)
Right now Fandango At Home (formerly known as Vudu) has some great deals on complete series bundles:

$10:

$20:

Psych

$25:

$30:

+ lots more.

Up all night and now it's late enough in the morning I'm not sure I should even try sleeping. If only I was good at napping. (I have a therapy appointment at 2pm which is the only thing on my schedule today.) I could crash early tonight and sleep through the winter storm. Hmm. Could be a plan.

This is obviously the most important post in my pinned thread. Haven't tried the search lately; I really should make it into a feed or something.

(This all started when I caught myself talking back to pictures on here & actually saying "hey buddy" out loud.)

(I've been alone for over a year now.)
Do I need to explain in my pinned thread that I've taken to saying "hey buddy" or "hey buddies" to cute animals that come across my skyline? My way of saying "hey buddy" but also sharing them. 🧵

Paste this in the search box to find that sort of thing:

I've got a bad feeling about this.

(Seriously, no good can come of this. Humans struggle to navigate Minneapolis when there's snow and ice making the lanes super narrow and parking tricky and the roads slippery and—)
Waymo, the autonomous vehicle ride-sharing service, is currently on the streets of Minneapolis beginning testing. With six months of winter weather, the car will have to learn to navigate snowy and icy conditions.
Waymo is coming to Minneapolis. But can the self-driving taxi navigate winter weather?

a thread full of buddies

(hey buddies)
i'm on PTO this entire week, so I went to the Como Zoo, where I found out on Mondays, they give all the big cats bones to play with an chew on. I shall now post some of that.
Giraffes are wholly unserious creatures.

When I say this, I mean "charge all your devices" before storms and such things, not run headlong into stuff but hey, I'm not the boss of you people. CHARGE ALL THE THINGS!
I should uh probably keep my phone charged in the event I don’t actually beat the snow on my way home from the office lol

Or as @windowseat.bsky.social says, charge all the things

Awww, these guys seem sweet. Having two cats really is the best, especially if they're buddies.

(Hey buddies!)

(Alas, my house is not in good enough shape nor am I in good enough shape to adopt any more cats just yet. Maybe one day.)
Urgent MSP #Caturday 🧵: these two handsome boys need a loving home as circumstances sadly force their person to part with them.

Bones & Basil are a bonded pair and need to stay together. Both are vaxxed, neutered, and very sociable. 1/

The military has a duty to refuse unlawful orders, but Congress has a duty to remove from office a president and secretary who would issue such orders. There is something off about members of Congress talking about the former while refusing to say the latter, the part that's actually their job here.

Up all night so fuck it, doing an early morning grocery order before the weather takes a turn.

And hey, I think I now have all the components for a Thanksgiving meal or three sorted. We'll see.

I also need someone to investigate trackers & see if a version of Homicide: Life on the Street is up yet that is Peacock video + DVD audio as I know some people were working on that project.

(Or I just need to return to the world of bittorrent my own damn self.)

As you know, I by far prefer buying physical media over just digital copies (the best is, of course, when you get both together).

I wish more TV series DVD/Blu sets came with codes for digital copies, but it's pretty rare.

But you can buy digital copies of lots of things . . . 🧵

A cousin offered me a Thanksgiving meal with their fam in Sioux Falls and even a place to stay, which was kind of them but I had to beg off because of the blasted pandemic though there are other reasons it might not be a good idea. At least they were cool when I declined & didn't make it weird.

Just mindboggling the shit that billionaires are doing that is causing harm to the world when they could be doing so much good. Wouldn't that feel better? Helping people? Spreading some joy? Or just hole up and buy all the cool shit and enjoy it and leave everyone else alone.
