At @wtevs.bsky.social's BASKETBALL FEELINGS, the Zesty KAT stuff took me right back to my own dumb childhood jock dreams and the ugly homophobia that’s seeping into ever corner of the current fascist moment—even the '24-25 Knicks. www.basketballfeelings.com/p/exits-some...

We at the @postguild.bsky.social are raising money for the hundreds of journalists the Post just laid off. This goes to the people who are hurting, not the Post. Or if you'd rather, go subscribe to an independent journalist. Support is hugely appreciated.

Please don't report this as a straightforward business story; it's a story about coercive social transformation being imposed by people so rich they've ceased to see the rest of us as legitimate stakeholders in our own lives

always bears repeating that this is NOT a financial decision. jeff bezos is worth over 250 billion dollars. he can afford to lose many millions and never even notice it. this is, at its core, a political and personal decision by bezos to destroy the post
WASHINGTON (AP) — Washington Post says one-third of its staff across all departments, not just the newsroom, is being laid off.

“Surprise, AZ Concentration Camp” sounds like something ripped straight from the pages of a George Saunders novel
It’s hard to put into perspective how truly massive the warehouse is that was recently sold by the Rockefeller Group to the Department of Homeland Security for $70 million to build a concentration camp in Surprise, AZ. Across the street is a huge neighborhood and a school. It’s 400,000-square-feet.

love too have desires met here

(dumping contracts and shuffling around various fringe rotation players in service of a [probably] futile attempt at trading for Giannis)
Bulls and Pistons have desires met here in a young and veteran guards to Chicago and a sharpshooter goes to Detroit. Minnesota creates significant tax savings and roster space as they pursue a Milwaukee star this week.

3 yrs ago I started writing a book that is in stores TODAY. It's narrative nonfiction, anti-fascist spy thriller set in Trump era. It's timely as hell & I'm proud of it.

A thread of what people are saying abt it & why I hope you'll help make it a bestseller www.simonandschuster.com/books/To-Cat...

The annual Silverman family birthday card from dad has arrived. (Re: The Great Replacement, He's referring to some recent weight loss on my part, not the white nationalist conspiracy. But maybe a little of both?)

An NFL team can lose. (Trust me, I'm a Jets fan.)
But NFL owners are essentially guaranteed success — no matter how bad their team is, no matter how blatantly they disregard their fans, no matter how odious they are personally.

The Permanent Overclass - The American Prospect
The NFL’s billionaire owners literally can’t lose when it comes to making money. On the field? That’s another matter.

Certified Chris Hooks Classic, here. It is very detailed and humane in telling the story it tells, which concerns the damage that a small number of snitches, creeps, and dullards have done to this institution, but also about the long history and awful present of snitches/creeps/dullards doing that.

I don't like to talk about stories before they are fully reported, but I am writing on ICE in a Minnesota town that isn't Minneapolis. However bad you think it is, it is worse. It is a campaign of pure terror whose only strategic goal is more terror. There is no strategy other than to break people.

we said all along that they wanted Gawker dead not because we embarrassed a pro wrestler but because the Epstein story is one Gawker was covering a decade before most other people caught up & was just one of many stories exposing powerful people and their misdeeds
Among the batch of newly released emails from Jeffrey Epstein: Epstein telling Peter Thiel he would “gladly share…expenses for the Gawker suit.”

This was sent the day after @rmac.bsky.social and @mattdrange.bsky.social reported in Forbes that Thiel was behind the lawsuit that would bankrupt Gawker
