When Robert Reich was Secretary of Labor, locked out Staley Starch workers from Decatur, IL and their Congressman, Glenn Poshard petitioned Reich and President Clinton for help. They refused.

FWIW, the Democratic establishment is even worse than the party that shivved Bernie Sanders’ insurgent campaigns twice, since it has spent the past couple of years crushing dissent against a genocide in Gaza. Were the Clintons, Biden, and Harris praising Mamdani or Dick Cheney yesterday?

1/2 Nevertheless there are still significant barriers for a pathway for progressivism within the Democratic Party. Hakeem Jeffries, Steny Hoyer, Jim Clyburn, & DCCC still have their fingers on the scale for the House. Chuck Schumer, Kirsten Gillibrand, & DSCC serve the same purpose in the Senate.

If a foreign power did to us what our elites have done to us over the past several decades there would be outrage. I don’t mean the corruption involved in our deindustrialization, but also degradation of our environment, our health, diet, pollution, etc.
