Ope! Didn't see ya there, #portfolioday 👋

I'm a Minneapolis-based illustrator focused on editorial and publishing projects along with the occasional animation or gallery show. And I'm now represented by @morgangaynin.bsky.social !

More of my stuff here: www.brianbritigan.com
Digital illustration commissioned by Reactor Magazine for "Parthenogenesis", a short story by Stephen Graham Jones. The Illustration depicts a middle-of-nowhere motel exterior and moving truck underneath an ominous and animalistic sky. A two-color risograph print in green and blue on cream paper, depicting a mounted knight being pulled from his horse by thorny vines. Created for "The Drawing Board" exhibition at MCAD Gallery in Minneapolis, MN. A Wizard-of-Oz-inspired digital illustration for for The InQueery showing a sepia-toned soccer player lacing up ruby cleats, with a rainbow-hued scene of poppies, a yellow brick road, and a soccer field in the background. A digital illustration for DBusiness Magazine showing the Detroit, MI skyline in overlapping orange and blue linear halftones. Half of the image features sunshine with calm water while the other half shows storm clouds with rough waves.

Thanks so much! I try to think of it like map making, following all the changes in direction made by the feathers and forms 🪶

About a year ago I was approached by Scholastic to pitch sketch ideas for the reprinting of Animorphs. After cryingscreamingbarfing I said YES OF COURSE. I am so grateful to have been chosen and for the enthusiasm everyone has expressed so far. David Mattingly left me some very big shoes to fill!
New cover for Animorphs #1 "THE INVASION." A boy with brown hair in a denim jacket, red shirt and green pants back flips into an anole lizard, completing the transformation in four total steps. New cover for Animorphs #2 "THE VISITOR." A girl with blonde hair wearing a black crop top, high waisted baggy green jeans and pink sneakers jumps across the page, turning into a tuxedo cat. New cover for Animorphs #3 "THE ENCOUNTER." A boy with dirty blonde hair in a baggy purple shirt, blue-grey jeans and yellow All star sneakers leaps from the top of the cover downwards, transforming into a red-tailed hawk.
