the US has made choices in the last 20 years that in nearly all other countries would lead to a prolonged period of authoritarian rule, civil conflict, and likely the fragmentation of the union. and somehow it looks like we're going to survive voting in a would-be dictator because he's dying.

The NYT story travels widely. Conservative influencers, who for years have been portraying Minneapolis as a Camp of the Saints hellhole ruined by Somalis, hype the story. One Fox News segment even asks why Biden's DOJ didn't probe it. (Again, the probe *started under Biden.*)
