Went into Waterstones in the Whitgift Centre the other day and saw a table piled with this hugely fun book. Glad I took a punt, it’s a joyous celebration of the bizarre history of my adopted home.

This is the maddest thing I’ve ever bought off the internet because of an advert by a Chinese based nonsense factory. Or Temu, as I believe the cool kids are calling it. Chris Sievey, if he were still alive, (I hope) would find it amusing. But I want to burn them to the ground anyway.

One of my very favourite things about the more recent Slow Horses books is that Mick Herron’s love of John Finnemore and Cabin Pressure has become a running joke there too.

The BBC Sounds app possibly needs a better way of condensing what’s in the news without implying a new headline.

I love how close Eric and Michael from the Pythons were to George Harrison. I just saw a man who was the spit of Arthur Sultan, “Surrey Mystic” and it suddenly occurred to me that that Rutles joke in 1978 was a really deep and personal mickey-take.

Enjoying this alternative timeline from Stephen Baxter’s World Engines book wherein the manager of The Rutles appears to have been a minor public school teacher in the mid-80s.

Saw this by @deldridgewriter.bsky.social tonight. It was glorious and I feel emotionally wrung out. A wonderful end to the trilogy. Grab a ticket if you can.

Hello what no sorry I can’t hear you I’m saving up to buy this now and everything else is a footnote. £349 is a perfectly reasonable price to spend on an ornament what no sorry can’t hear you.

Finally getting around to watching Culloden. It’s insanely brilliant. The hand held reportage style is so wonderful. From 1964! Why aren’t history dramas and documentaries done like this more often? Or ever? It’s superb.

RE the Bond casting. We need to go back to the books and cast someone who looks like Hoagy Carmichael, who Fleming says Bond looks like. Several times. In more than one book.
