One of my pups, Bobby is 3 years old and a super sweetheart. He was abused by his previous owners so he is always on edge but has a lot of love to give ❤️

My latest post discusses the story of Hannah Phillips, who folklore states drowned on the eve of her wedding. Discover her story and the maiden's garland that still bares her name.

Overground, Underground

I'm also searching for locations where you can view trains crossing over each other the logical way.

At the end of the platform at North Acton tube station, you can view the Overground travelling 'over' the London Underground trains.

This prosthetic eye made from a mixture of natural tar and animal fat is nearly 5,000 years old. It was found near the city of Zabol in Iran in 2006. Archaeologists believe that the prosthetic eye, which was once painted gold, was worn by an ancient priestess who stood 6’ tall.

A snippet of folklore for #Halloween 🎃

If you sit on a church porch at midnight on Halloween, you will see a procession of all the people who are destined to die in the parish during the next year 💀

Cowane's Hospital in Stirling. Many years ago I read that when they were building up in this part of the town, they uncovered a Roman grave carved into the volcanic bedrock, now in a cellar around here. I've never been able to find the reference or building.

Photography from my 2026 Calendar

I took pictures of trains passing through the station from the platform bridge. After a while, I realised I'd captured trains on every track, so I thought it'd be visually interesting to make a composite photo of the encounter.

Nationalism is a shibboleth. The challenges we face are daunting. But we are not going to overcome them by hunkering down behind of imaginary lines scrawled on a map by medieval warlords. Our problems are transnational, and the solutions are too.
