Two well-established facts:

1. Brexit was an unmitigated disaster for the UK.

2. X is an unacceptably toxic platform.

Why then is it that the UK prime minister can’t bring himself to admit the first, nor leave the second?

Is it any wonder so many people are disillusioned with politics?

I expect there will be a few even RefUK would decline.

Hopefully I won’t be disenfranchised as I was at the last election.

Badenoch announces a Conservative government would abolish stamp duty.

The electorate are more likely to abolish the Tory party.
brianinfrance.bsky.social
That’s ok. The Tories will also abolish reality.

As I’ve posted previously, I’ve all but given up on the political future of the UK. Too many propagandists. Too few journalists.

True that many may not know he was Tory deputy PM. His words are still worth repeating though.

Heseltine:

We must not abandon the shared laws of Europe.

We cannot afford to forget the lessons of history.

Extremists are back on the march and are using immigration as a scapegoat.

Britain’s future lies in Europe, not apart from it.

Lords Heseltine & Kinnock seem more alive to these self-evident truths than most members of the Commons. Similarly, I find thinkers with direct lived experience of far right dictatorship, Greeks of a certain age for example, crystal clear about what’s happening now.

“You described Reform and other parties across Europe today as among the 'right wing equivalents of the fascists in the 1930s'. Why?”

“Because that’s what they are”

@vicderbyshire.bsky.social asks Lord Heseltine about remarks he made at Conservative Party Conference.

Badenoch doesn’t want to talk about Farage’

I doubt if she would want to talk about chocolate bars either.

Everyone’s a fruit and nut case 🎶

The combination of politicians being prepared to lie and deceive in order to win votes, and the right-wing media incapable or unwilling to call out those lies, will lead to the unthinkable.

As 11 Tory councillors defect to RefUK, Badenoch says: "What we are doing is shedding a lot of the baggage of the last 14 years."

In other news, 'half of Tory members do not want Kemi Badenoch to lead party into next election'.

"NHS could cease to function under Labour’s new visa rules, say nurses

In the most explicit attack yet on Labour’s proposed restrictions on overseas workers, the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) described the plan as “ignorant” and “pandering” to Nigel Farage’s Reform UK."

RCN speaking the truth.

The other half want somebody else to lead the party into the next election.

Here's two of nearly 500 dangerous British “terrorists” arrested in Trafalgar Square yesterday for holding pieces of cardboard…

This is the state of Keith Starmer's Britain, 2025.

I'm very concerned about all the #GlobalSumudFlotilla detainees, but especially Hannah Schafer, who seems likely to be held in extended detention in Israel. Israeli armed forces have committed grave and multiple breaches of international law in attacking the flotilla and mistreating its crew.

"I remember how I felt on the morning of Brexit"

"We just literally let Farage's lies write history"
