Earlier this week Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance — a public-private partnership that does more than any other organization to get vaccines to people in poor countries — reported that its vaccines saved a record-breaking 1.7 million people in 2024. That’s 400,000 more lives saved than in 2023.

A key question isn't only whether this kind of housing will 'allow' drug use. Important to ask what happens to the (majority of) people in recovery who relapse. Relapse is considered a normal element of substance use disorder.

Thought exercise: A Democratic POTUS sends Nat'l Guard troops from a blue state to a red state to help arrest people on federal firearm law violations. People stopped, searched & detained because they fit profiles or are near locations (sports clubs, gun auctions) viewed as high risk. Reaction?

The very first statute authorizing domestic use of the military during domestic emergencies, enacted in 1792 by a Congress full of the same folks who wrote and ratified the Constitution, expressly provided for judicial review in certain circumstances *before* the President could even send troops.
