Intro Post: I'm the cartoonist of Complete the Quest: The Poisonous Library, the 1st RPG graphic novel & Draw out the Story: Ten Secrets to Creating Your Own Comics. I also write Owl Magazines' monthly Spruce Street Squad comic, and have cartooned for Nickelodeon, The Nib, the New Yorker and more.
The cover of Complete the Quest: The Poisonous LIbrary. A yellow dragon person in purple robes stands back to back with a black woman who is a sun priest as they battle magenta throny tentacles. In the background they are aided by a short green flowerkin rouge, a flying bird-suited druid, and two blue-haired dwarves. They are in a dark grey cave with blue and purple crystals. A blurb reads "Part comic, part game, all joyous adventure - Ryan North" The cover of Draw Out the Story: Ten Secrets to Creating Your Own Comics by Brian McLachlan. The cover features a dragon, battling heroes, a burglar, a rocket ship guitar, a talking pine tree, two kid pirates, a dog chasing a cat (both in airplanes), a barfing cloud and a hand holding a pencil that's a magic wand.

Gag 178: Specialized diets
Around a table, a werewolf eats bones from a plate, a zombie eats a brain from a plate and a vampire drinks blood from a bowl with a spoon. She suggests "Next time we should just pitch in for the full human"

On a wide garage door, a wildstyle for merk in blue, beside a cute red devil in diapers against a brown and orange hellscape, a pile of skulls in the bottom right corner.

I'm not a fan of the Spider-Man series approach to "realistic" design. Face it Tiger, Mary Jane is brown from clothes to eyeshadow. Scorpion has a "realistic" techno suit but why would he still be wearing it in prison 2 years later? Meanwhile I can select cartoonish costumes for Spidey.

When working on art images I will save the image, resize it, save it as a jpg for sharing, then get paranoid, unresize it, and save it again.

"What’s scary is that you don’t understand how your words affect other people. When you say true stuff, then other people might get the disturbing idea to research what you said, learn something, and then continue to learn things."
It’s Extremely Divisive of You to Tell the Truth
Our nation is incredibly divided right now, and the last thing we need is someone standing up and further dividing us with statements based in fact...

A pair of garage doors in a laneways, both with faces between roses. The first is a woman with black hair and day of the dead makeup, blank eyes between two red roses on a white door, the other a skull with cyan heart eyes and day of the dead markings between two purple roses on a cerulean door.

Gag 177: A gave misunderstanding
A ghost answers the door of a cobwebbed house, to find a stone-faced grim reaper there. The ghost angrily says "I already gave".

On the side of a shop, a mural of a woman with a wide red hat, flowers in her hair, but face painted liked a skull in a Mexican day of the dead style. There's another more iconic skull and hat face above her along with a taco that appears to be dripping brown liquid into a large white container, like a waterfall of dipping sauce or coffee?

I got Spider-Man 2 on sale and my oldest and I have been playing through. The graffiti in this sequel is on point. There's even a graffiti-centred quest. Those side quests moments really help with the tempo & breadth of the world, giving us characters we want to save, not just an abstract NYC.
