I saw the Vulgar Boatmen live only once back in Chicago after “You and Your Sister” came out but I’ll always love that album and that band. That Silos/ Vulgar Boatmen/Silos show is still the best TRIPLE bill I’ve ever seen.

I was lucky (and old) enough to see them with Olson a couple times in the early ‘90s. The first time they were opening for The Silos and The Vulgar Boatmen in Chicago. I became an instant fan for life.

I miss the incredible harmonies they had in those days but the band still sounds great.

If I’d gotten pulled over, I’m sure Finner could’ve made the cop laugh and gotten me out of trouble. He could make ANYONE laugh.

Just remembered the time we were doing shows in Colorado and after driving for several hours through the mountains, I noticed that Pat had written in big letters on the back of the car I was driving: “COPS SUCK”. Hahaha.
