This is Marco Rubio explaining how the USA promised to defend Ukraine forever if they got rid of their nuclear arsenal left after the Soviet Union fell.

This is why lil marco was sinking into the couch. He was hoping we wouldn’t find it…so don’t RT right now this very second.

“government gangsters” speaks volumes about this administration.

It’s like they see Nicky Barnes as a role model.
Kash Patel told @amyklobuchar.com he did not recall saying Trump has “every right to tell the world that in 2020, 2016, and every other election in between was rigged by our government because they were.”

Here’s the clip:

Citizen feedback is the ONLY guardrails on Trump’s administration. It’s wise to keep your Representative’s and Senators’ phone numbers saved in your phone so you can share your feedback as he tests the limits of the law and the moral fabric (What is left of it) of our country.

When a gesture like the Nazi salute is used, it carries an immense historical and cultural weight that cannot be separated from its meaning, regardless of the intent or accompanying words. Even if done accidentally, the gesture itself evokes deep offense and pain for many, making it inexcusable.

trump REFUSES to accept the reality of how tariffs work, and refuses to take responsibility for how prices will soar as a result of his boneheaded plan.

Trump's margin of victory—in a country of 342 million—is down to 2.2 million and 1.47%.

His vote share is <50%.

Republicans for now have only a 1-vote majority in the House.

Things are so bad for Trump in the Senate that he's floating illegally dismissing the entire body.

This is his "mandate."

A few more thoughts on Trump and the dollar. Probably this is sound and fury, signifying nothing except Trump's ignorance. But to the extent it matters, it's utterly counterproductive 1/
It goes without saying that this is stupid, and I wonder what set it off. Was there a segment on Fox News? But I thought it might be worth a thread explaining what Trump (and, to be fair, some other international leaders) don't get about international money 1/

Oh, and once upon a time many countries pegged their currencies to the dollar. Hardly anyone does these days — but dollar dominance remains intact 10/

Governments holding foreign-currency reserves do have a choice about which currencies to hold, and have in fact diversified a bit. But people often conflate reserve holdings with the broader role of the dollar, when they're arguably the least important piece of that role 9/

The point is that all these private-sector roles are mutually reinforcing, making it very difficult to dislodge the dollar from its special position. What about public-sector roles? Well, governments trying to move their currencies often buy or sell dollars, because that's where the markets are 8/

A disproportionate share of world exports are also invoiced in dollars. That's partly because widespread demand for dollar assets makes borrowing in dollars slightly cheaper than alternatives — and invoicing increases the demand for those assets 7/

Vehicle: If a Brazilian bank wants to convert reais into rupees, it will probably sell the reais for dollars, then use the dollars to buy rupees, rather than look for a direct match. (And they'll probably communicate in English). That's why the dollar dominates international transactions 5/

Getting a bit more specific: Money fills three roles: medium of exchange, store of value, unit of account. The dollar is to other moneys as money is to goods, with the added dimension that these roles involve both private-sector decisions and those of governments. I use the following table 4/

Imagine Trump threatening to impose punitive tariffs on foreigners if they speak to each other in some other language, and the absurdity is obvious. Or maybe not: it's amazing what the cult is willing to believe 3/

The best simple explanation of the dollar's role is still Charles Kindleberger's old analogy with the role of English as the language of international business. Foreigners learn English partly because we're such a big market, but also because so many others speak English 2/
