My hope is that Los Hongos will be a kind and gentle place to get accurate information about mushrooms and their range of uses. I would like to try their mushroom tacos and empanadas, for sure. The sparkling mushroom drink they'll sell is also intriguing.

My late harpsichord teacher, Laurette Goldberg, had a home in McKinleyville. When I was the caretaker of MusicSources, an early music center in Berkeley, sometimes I would visit her up there. It's beautiful but felt a bit remote.

I would not be surprised that it is AI. A lot of places are using it for their logos these days. Perhaps it is an idealized chanterelle?

I spent a number of years in the Sally Fallon world, and am familiar with the "food as medicine" folks. ("Let food be thy medicine" is often quoted.) A lot has changed for me over the years (cancer, for one). Happy to hear a variety of perspectives!
