I also make a killer uncooked applesauce: dice or shred unpeeled apples, then puree in blender with as much grated fresh ginger as you can stand, a teaspoon or so of powdered ginger, a good splash of lemon juice, a dash of salt, sweeten if necessary. A little cider or white wine doesn't hurt.

I like to roast or sauté sausages with apples and onions and maybe a bell pepper or two. Just the apples and onions sautéed together are also good. And I've made a variation of Thai green papaya salad using shredded or julienned apples.

I'm not really comfortable with the phrase "vintage weed killer". I'm guessing they don't age like fine wines.

It REALLY annoys me in period novels when women wear hats to balls or the opera or other formal occasions. Please just do a little research, I'm begging you.
