"MIRACLE MILE is about many things — romance and Los Angeles and the looming threat of nuclear devastation at the close of the Cold War — but also, obsessively, it’s about marking the passage of time."

We're working with Greg Johnson, the creator of ToeJam and Earl, on a beautiful and deeply personal game he's making called Dancing with Ghosts - the Kickstarter went live today, check it out: www.kickstarter.com/projects/hum...
Dancing With Ghosts
A charming, poignant interactive narrative ghost story, starring two girls, set in a Thai river village.

One of the more incredible stories out of LA this year has been how a taco review blog became the best on-the-ground coverage of ICE raids in the city.

They do a dispatch every day, follow-up on the kidnapped people (which almost no media outlet has done), and fact-check government claims.

@lataco.bsky.social first began as a blog documenting local Mexican cuisine. Now, it’s an essential reporting powerhouse to the city as Trump’s mass deportation plot unfolds.

Only total contempt for viewers or an insanely cloistered reactionary world view could let someone look at lifelong propagandist and reactionary siren Bari Weiss and try to sell her as some great nonpartisan hope. We live in hell.

the recurring Walgreens push notification for a flash sale is such bloodthirsty end-stage capitalism. first time I thought it was an error but now it has evolved to include an asterisk for limitations. [the two meds I currently need are out of stock country-wide or suddenly not covered by insurance]

Had @russfischer.bsky.social point out I dodged a bullet that Sean Penn’s character in the book is named Brock but he’s Lockjaw in the movie, and I was like yeah woof thank god no more Brock shade, but then someone called me “Col. Brockjaw” and we cannot reseal the dam; Halloween costume inbound.

weeks later and cannot shake the sense that @chucktingle.bsky.social’s LUCKY DAY is the only true heir to Douglas Adams’ work, despite the number of books I’ve read that really set out to only accomplish that, and therefore fell short.

dunno how else to frame the achievement but @chucktingle.bsky.social’s ability to stick the landing on these has made made think *less* of my other recent fav novels; changed the weighted average of horror ranking and that’s a compliment where third parties catch a stray but here we are.

Finally getting to watch RABBIT TRAP and @grahamreznick.bsky.social’s work is, per usual, my fav part of anything involving @grahamreznick.bsky.social.

Bryn Chainey's RABBIT TRAP is out tonight, and the universe decided to recognize this by offering up a rare early-model LANDSCAPE HC-TT (left) at Perfect Circuit today!

the newer version (right) was my hero tool in making the sound design for the film.

go see it!!

The fact that Kaleb Horton died begging for work instead having a column at some hip legacy mag is such an indictment of this industry. People should have been begging to put him on payroll. But nope, we've reserved that space for Ezra Klein
