Part-time masters student trying to find interesting research for a PhD!

Current project with this page is to include a passage from a book I’m reading in all posts. Books are selected based on my research interests and posts highlight key takeaways.
I’ve seen a lot of discussion relating to LLMs/AI in this feed. These two excerpts are from Jacob Bronowski’s “The Origins of Knowledge and Imagination”.

“Throw the whole thing away and start building up a new axiomatic system”. A simple task for humans, but an expensive task for machine #philsci

Another exert from Jacob Bronowski’s “The Origins of Knowledge and Imagination”.
I chose this exert because I think it does an excellent job of introducing the concept of metalogic. “Standing outside the system”.

@ashleemboyer.com I love your post. Jacob Bronowski provides an excellent interpretation on information in the attached passage.

LLMs cannot possibly understand the emotions behind disability, so why should we trust “information” they generate on this subject? We shouldn’t.

I cannot think of anything more motivating than this exert from Jacob Bronowski’s “The Origins of Knowledge and Imagination”.

Sometimes time is our ally :)

A brilliant exert from Jacob Bronowski’s “The Origins of Knowledge and Imagination”. Bronowski is defining the 3 characters of the language of science.

In a world full of LLMs Bronowski’s definition of the language of science seems to be more relevant than ever.
