It was a good one. Our best yet by fundraising--we'll hit, or at least get close to, $75k total--and a ton of great talks. Happy to see everyone, happy to see a lot of students get interviews, and excited to continue growing next year.

Slightly delayed because we've shifted slightly later in August over the years, but all conference info will likely be up next week.

In the last couple of years since moving to Chicago, we've raised about $40,000-$50,000 for charity each year. I think we can do even more--come join in!

And if you aren't familiar, we are an annual not-for-profit baseball analytics conference that gives the proceeds of the event to the Alliance to Cure Cavernous Malformation and the Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights.

Au for Alan Units???

This is also good because then it leaves @pobguy.bsky.social in the awkward position of referring to them as "Me Units" and similar every time he references them in a presentation.

Na. Surely nothing in science uses the abbreviation Na.

You should have named more things, you could have gotten a job in MLB, won world series, stuff like that. Alas.

This is good, especially because it only strengthens my argument that DRC is pronounced "dork"

Petition to just rename these Nathan units. We can denote them with Nu.

I have been maintaining that pitch movement is independent of velocity for a fixed ratio of spin to speed (i.e., for fixed Bauer units). Not only is this true based on physics, it is also supported by the data. Below I show movement vs. Bauer for different fixed value of velo.

The correct answer is SAS, it isn't even close.

Happy that much of baseball Xitter has migrated over at this point. These kinds of platforms make live sports more fun.

Sorry to have missed this - it's honestly pretty straightforward.
