Don't follow me, I'm an idiot. I'm here to read what smarter people have to say and occasionally say something stupid.

Pretty sure the world figured out "beans and rice" as the optimally cheap nutrition a while back and that hasn't really changed

As someone who has partaken in the distant past, I can say one of the thoughts you have the first time you're stoned is "why exactly is this illegal?"

I mean, would they do anything differently if they weren't confident they'd win? What do they have to lose from a loss at the court that they haven't already lost by slamming the "starve as many people as possible" button?

"What if all the heat generated across the globe by human activity needed to be radiated into space from a few thousand satellites?" is the kind of question that should put you in an asylum before even getting to the question of "what is it for?"

Surely the Founding Fathers understood the concept of a government shutdown and the impact it would have on air travel, of course this being influenced by our highly partisan system and direct election of senators. Health insurance subsidies were a thing back then, right?

I get the pressure of "we have to funnel users into the next big thing whether they like it or not because my salary depends on it," but that this does not appear to be widely recognized for what it is... Literally choosing to make the user experience worse is, well, a choice

I've gotten annoyed with "we're going to guess what we think you want regardless of what you asked for" for many years (Microsoft is awful on this front), but "we're going to make it significantly harder for you if we guessed wrong" seems mostly new.

I don't think that's been the appeal for a long time, there was a big pivot with GTA 4 to making games that have narrative depth and social commentary. And that was 2008.

Like, most of the GOP--especially the House--just play stupid on TV. I don't think they're smart, but they're definitely putting on an act. They all pretend to believe dumb shit that they obviously don't believe. Tuberville, though. I think he actually is about as smart as a turkey looking skyward

I'm definitely in that boat, didn't get far enough in to have a political opinion on it. I wonder how many people just didn't like the humor and felt like they had to make that more intellectual than it really was

Without commenting on the strength of this argument, I think the notion is that wealthy people spend a lot into the local economy through both enterprise and private spending

Dumber people than I have been pointing out for years that anti-trans campaigns do not tend to win competitive races even in conservative leaning electorates. It's pretty obvious the centrist types just want their own prejudices to be popular even though they're not.

Does the public good pay his bills? Last I checked we don't live in a society where many people can do their job for free. Are you willing to do your job for no pay?

Newsmax isn't about to pivot to "actually there are more than two genders, so long as we can strictly police them" because the notion of conservative policing of gender is definitionally incompatible with anything other than "it's Adam and Eve"

I think you're basically correct that a lot of conservative hangups are rooted in aversion to complexity, but whether that can be weaponized against them comes down to what their media diet is willing to feed them. You can't win those people as long as Fox and Newsmax exist
