I'm glad I didn't pursue the pivot from VFX to games when I was laid off. It's still been weird that every company I work at still wants to use unreal engine just to say they used it.

I'm in accident reconstruction now I my boss still said we should use Unreal because it looks cool.

Same thing with concentration camps. The US had been employing our own versions of these camps long before and after WWII. On indigenous populations, immigrants, Japanese, and likely more that I can't think of. Ours don't seem as cruel at times but had the same effect of destroying these groups.

It's been shocking to me because the same thing happened in CO a few years ago. The Marshall fires started small in the dead of winter and caused massive devastation before anyone could react effectively. Then it snowed the next day making it even more difficult for the displaced.

It's rough especially seeing the years of rebuilding and pain that goes into the recovery from these fires. Louisville is still rebuilding after the Marshall fire years ago.

I wanted to believe that they had a noble plan all along. That the savage tasteless slop was only there to achieve something good. And I was wrong. Capitalism corrupts no matter what.
