My work focused on resecuring the “red wall” and turning back the tide against 14 years of Tory neglect. I'm not asking for recognition: my ex-boss can have all of that. But I do think it’s a terrible thing to have squandered such a colossal achievement...

I don’t want to be a councillor or MP, or anything like that, but I do want to support people who truly deserve to hold public office. I aim to invest my time and spare money to help put as many of these individuals into power as possible. Because Britain deserves better.

Community, family, and nation. The redistribution of power from society’s centre to its circumference, and opposition to unaccountable power elites. In sum: a politics, and an economy, of the common good.

This may not be the move of a political careerist, but it’s a choice driven by my convictions and influenced by my working-class Lib Dem mum and dad. When I look at Ed Davy’s policies, they perfectly sum up who I am and reflect what I once thought Labour's “radical tradition” was all about.

The split of the Labour movement from the Liberals was, in my view, a historic mistake. The new Liberals had the perfect synthesis of positive and negative liberty, offering a balanced approach to freedom.

I stand firmly against both anti-Semitism and anti-immigrant sentiments. Against anti-business and anti-worker policies. These attitudes have no place in our political discourse, and these policies will be the undoing of the good society.

I’m deeply troubled by the double movement of hatred that has permeated parts of the left. I believe in a politics that uplifts rather than divides, and that’s not what I’m seeing right now.
