Chaired a great SocRel PGR/ECR training session on public speaking, communication, and accessibility this week as PGR Officer.

Grateful to our three brilliant speakers for sharing such insightful and practical advice with great humour!

Listening to @carostarkey.bsky.social talk about new, developing research on spiritualism in the North - specifically Morley, which voted in Reform in recent council elections. Suddenly makes the party chair's GMB interview anecdote on paranormal possession less reflexively laughable. #Socrel

Powerful testimony in the Q&A at Socrel 25 conference Dr Monique Moultrie on the question of being a scholar-activist: what conditions held her back for years and the specific personal and national conditions that compelled her to speak up and out. @bsasocrel.bsky.social

Looking forward to gathering with friends and colleagues this July for the SocRel Annual Conference - always a highlight in the sociology of religion calendar.

I’m especially excited to be organising the PGR/ECR workshop this year, focused on communicating research to a range of audiences 🎤
