Buddy bear security: debug your security with a teddy bear, and then snuggle said bear as you panic at said security!

There is no security unless there is security for all.

Canadian/American in Halifax, NS
Cybersecurity by day, astrophysics by night.
I wish they were more commercially viable as the little gizmo is the best (yes, I has 2 for redundancy, and the mini usb-c one). I have the Yubikey Authenticator on the phone for MFA but the small one, for those who lose things, would be handy to have plugged in for website authentication

Baby Kitty wanted to get in on the photo trend with a stunning #sunset on the walk home. While the days can be crazy, a sunset always grounds me.

Plus, how flipping cute is the kitty?! I mean, really - insta-stress dissolver!

After an odd day, Teddy enjoyed travelling to see the pretty Autumn views around #Halifax

The things I do for my kid… paint by number kitty on acrylic
October 25, 2025 at 2:04 AM
While I traditionally have done oil or water colours - paint by numbers allows me to get some painting in without completely ditching homework.

Then this challenge came in. Kiddo wanted the kitty. This is round 2 after all the lessons of round 1 were washed off 🥲

Baby Kitty approves of biking

Today I had a day that was “Fuckit, using a teacup for chocolate chips.”

Then “hey I’m running late, can you get the kid?” Going to go puke now from all the chocolate then biking. Why is #halifax so damn hilly?!

Best one-liner in a movie?

This is how I describe remote power off commands to systems (OOB interfaces, etc.)

“Hey take this meth* to help your brain with the fact that you have a disability around time, memory, and schedules, and for you that’s non addictive!

But other ppl abuse it so sometimes go days without refills because the regulations target your disability!”

Finally, a clear night while travelling to see the Milky Way better!

“I need to pee!!!” - said the kid who didn’t need to pee at the rest area in the Cobequid Pass.

At least Teddy finally got to check out the giant blueberry in Oxford. You know, 10-20 minutes after we left the first bathroom 👀

Happy Long Weekend to all those who celebrate either the holiday, or “holy bananas this is going to be a long ☠️ weekend”

For those who are celebrating both, I invite you to Sky Screaming at sundown. I’m releasing the feelings of 7 day old glasses being broken to answer “how far do they twist?” 🫠

Injecting a drop of ✨ joy ✨ for the internet.

My kid forgot 2 kitties at his grandparents while they are traveling around. They're now on the "take photos of adventure stuffy friends!" bandwagon.

Today they went apple picking.

SMU has a message AND stuffy friend Teddy can get behind!

I heard of using Cybersecurity Awareness Month as a way to talk about cybersecurity check-ins as if they’re any other life component. Finance check
-ins, career check-ins, and your security routines and practices review. I like this more.

Teddy’s most favourite place in Dartmouth. Next to the ferry terminal, a walking path, and train tracks. ❤️

This semester’s goal is to write a research paper on how computer hackers influenced technology in the pre-2000 era. Picking up hard copies of some favourite books for referencing general history ❤️

The Cuckoo’s Egg is my #1 recommendation for anyone wanting a good intro. Countdown to Zero Day is #2

At least the fire alarm was during a nice day! Happy to be back at SMU after travelling 😅

Along with a teddy bear, don’t forget a healing dinosaur for the soul. My grandmother and I had the same dinosaur; she said hers was her little healer when she was in pain. She passed, and her healing dinosaur is coming home with mine and Teddy to live a cozy rest of his life. He was a good Dino.

On the 4th week of travel, the bear enjoyed a peaceful morning scene.

Teddy knows the first thing about security: share *after* your adventures.

You’ve heard of Paddington Bear - now meet Pentagon Bear! After seeing the Pentagon, he happily went home!

Work travel upside is exploring new transit systems. I’m very jealous of the system in DC and Maryland. I want this in Halifax. 🥺

This weekend we were lucky to travel to rural Canada, and my kid finally was able to enjoy a dark sky full of stars. His joy reminded me of why I wanted to study space - it’s just so neat, and gorgeous!

Instead of touch grass, find some starry pictures to remind you that we’re continuously falling towards a giant nuclear reaction and it’s honestly insane that we exist at all. Breathe in at the entire absurdity of life, and breathe out stressing over everything for a little bit.
