Buddy bear security: debug your security with a teddy bear, and then snuggle said bear as you panic at said security!

There is no security unless there is security for all.

Canadian/American in Halifax, NS
Cybersecurity by day, astrophysics by night.
I would argue that they’re not undermining democracy; they’re taking advantage of a democratically elected person. I don’t blame any country for using that to their advantage in public. Propagandist botnets, however, undermine democracy.

I've been listening to the Bible in a Year podcast to help give commentary. I first read the Bible on my own and hated it and everyone in it. Commentary helps a /LOT/ and makes the story more hopeful and not "wow that's just... all kinds of wrong"

//make it to November without a major crash into doom-thoughts thanks to meds that make me suffer in the summer: ✅

Wishing you many anti-SAD weapons to go to battle with!

Aaand now time to dig out the SAD light to transport to campus on top of the Teddy.

👀 did the Canadians Canadian in the wrong sport? (Hockey is brawl city)

👀 I have a “science book” for my kid to write down his observations and do ‘science’ as a way to practice writing* - I know today’s science goal!

(*preparing for teen years; be a shithead with a logbook and call it science. My one requirement if I have to deal with cops)

Stored for 15 years in this AI-deep-fake economy?! That’s like 200,000 years in tech malpractice time!

(*attempting to joke. Probably failing. Holy crap that’s bad)

Fair! I'm a little surprised, but also not totally surprised based on how often non-Canadians apologize for swearing in conversation. As a maritimer, I find it cute when they do that, in an 'awww the innocence' kinda of way.

👀 it's not a good time to both work in cybersecurity (see things as attack vectors) and study astrophysics with a good amount of information about nuclear reactions + atomic weapons history

Or missed opportunity, general fuckup. It's the Yeah No to the No Yeah.
October 31, 2025 at 1:00 AM
wait. is that not a regular thing? 👀

Yeah -it's hard because you'd need to get the backup codes, and all new items to put in there would need to have the backups ... somewhere. It's definitely useful but not... uh... robust :(

I wish they were more commercially viable as the little gizmo is the best (yes, I has 2 for redundancy, and the mini usb-c one). I have the Yubikey Authenticator on the phone for MFA but the small one, for those who lose things, would be handy to have plugged in for website authentication

Mr President, please explain the defunding of science.

The worst jr programmer w severe ADHD would probably ride cool bikes, or have epic /stories/ that make it worthwhile*. The LLM ain't got shit on that!

(*at least that's how I try to frame my bad ADHD days - story generating karma points - like forgetting my purse in an uber at the airport!)

ADHD moment: didn’t see I missed the ‘it’ in “I would say *it* should…” 🤦🏻‍♀️

I find driving in Halifax ingrains a “same insane” habit - you can typically tell who’s newer by those not being a dick. I do find cities with more used transit have better representation of the population on it - but Hfx isn’t bad. Drunk folks have tried cheering up my kid 😂

“Pushed last known good config” made me laugh. I do not miss Ops.

By blowing it up - underground, underwater, above water, on ground, in space (*yes, that’s been done). Oh the places that you can fry!
