OMG, it happens to me ALL THE TIME. I get a formal request for an interview, I plan for it, I book the time, I meet with the journalist, I agree to be recorded and then (gasps, clutches pearls, gets the vapours), they PRINT WHAT I SAID. So annoying. Then I have to apologize... just such a THING!

And as someone who interviews people regularly, I have no doubt the reporter stated something along the lines of, "I'm going to hit record now."
