They wanted to see their perceived enemies suffer, so yes. They may not have *intended* for their niece, nephew, son, daughter, neighbor or anybody else they know directly to be hurt, but they knew they wanted "lefties" to suffer, and will continue to support it so long as it's not them suffering.
