It's really not brought up enough how any Dem admin following a GOP admin has to spend pretty much its first two years just putting out arson fires set by the GOP before it can even really START to work on its own agenda.
The problem with a Constitutional Convention is that Republican controlled states would dominate. Look a the state legislatures. Republicans are in control of significantly more than Democrats.

It exists to the same extent "Advice of Counsel" CAN be a defense to certain crimes - but those aren't things like MURDER where the criminal nature of the conduct is obvious.

It's a defense in situations where someone would be reasonable in relying on their lawyer's advice to take certain actions.
Wild to see Whelan say this, but to be clear the OLC's immunity powers are fake anyway. The "golden shield" idea was made up to justify rampant criminality in the GWBush years, then adopted by Holder to excuse Obama's inaction. It's not in the Constitution, statute, or precedent. It's not the law.
Does Pete Hegseth have a "golden shield" against prosecution in the form of a DOJ OLC opinion? Ed Whelan thinks not.

And unlike some of the finer questions of “was the president’s inherent Art 2 powers in play”, shouldn’t offing people who are hors de combat be clearly known to be an illegal order all the way down the line to the lowest Seaman?

And by all available resources he means...call the hospital where the guy is being treated and ask if he's still there?
Keystone Kash blows it again: The perpetrator that he’s going to use all available resources to track down in the DC guardsman shooting is already in the hospital. Idiot.

Ya know what - I think he believes if he forms a new party he can run for a third term legally.

Alternatively - let's look at the history of juries when it comes to things like say, black men being accused of raping white women.

The jury system is in no way perfect but I think a better solution would be a jury of experts instead of just...random folks.
Having served on a jury in a rape trial, I'd have preferred a judge to decide guilt/innocence than a bunch of people who were sadly incapable of applying any logic to the clear evidence they were presented with and prepared, given their blatant sexism, to see the defence counsel destroy the victim.

Also, Leavitt looks like she's aged 15-20 years - hate really isn't great for your looks.

I mean she's a terrible human being (Leavitt, not the detained woman) so she probably doesn't give a shit but hmmmmm how's this going to play out:

It's somehow even STUPIDER than Hegseth not knowing about mirror imaging.

Hegseth doesn't know how to tell left from right!
Except the image he replies to isn’t mirror-reversed - it’s on a hanger, and clearly on the left breast as it’s supposed to be and at least the first row are in correct order from what I can tell via googling award precedence (will defer to an actual expert). He can’t even use mirroring as an excuse

Hey BBC...fuck you
I wish I didn’t have to share this. But the BBC has decided to censor my first Reith Lecture.

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

In 1928 the Republicans were super confident about 1929 too...
WELKER: Which parts of the economy do you believe have dipped into recession?

BESSENT: Clearly housing has been struggling. Interest rate sensitive sectors have been in a recession

WELKER: Is the entire country at risk of recession?

BESSENT: No. I am very confident about 2026.

You are aware that "morality" and "legal" are not dependent concepts right? The legality of something doesn't determine it's morality.
Actually, no. There were no laws against having sex with child slaves in 1776.

"Horrific" or no, it wasn't "immoral" in Jefferson's time.

Would he have any less of a chance of being elected president in 2024? 🤔 #PedoDon
