During the 1901 Pan-American Exposition in #Buffalo, Whitney's sculpture titled Aspiration was sited in front of what is now the Buffalo History Museum. It was plaster of Paris & likely discarded at the end of the Exposition.

This part of Lincoln Parkway needs a road diet. It is inexplicably twice as wide as the right-of-ways leading in and out of it.

So I finished this today.

Spotted in a pop history of bowling, an unidentified alley that I think is local due to the mural of the Buffalo History Museum on the rear wall. The skimpy credit statement for the image cites (or mis-cites) a 1999 book or article that I cannot find. Anyone recognize this bowling alley?

Here's where we ended up. Opened 2 months ago in a former tavern, Bengla owned, had limited veg options. But worth it to support an immigrant entrepreneur who moved up here from NYC.

The earliest usage I have found to date of 'Rust Belt' to refer to industry instead of automobiles is an AP article by John Cunniff, in the Wisconsin Post-Crescent, Nov 29, 1982, p. 24.

Before "Rust Belt" meant deindustrialized Northeastern/Midwest cities, it was applied to the same region by car dealers to refer to where winter rusting of automobiles was common.

There aren't many apples-to apples comparisons. Here's one of the few I found. Is the Erie County Pen cellblock on the left, from Scientific American, the same as the cellblock on the right from "The Road?" I don't think so.
