Last night I joined @TernerCenter for their 10th Anniversary celebration— marking a decade of research driving real housing solutions in CA.

We discussed what’s next for housing reform, the push to lower construction costs, and turning new laws into homes for Californians.

Because of the federal shutdown, CalFresh (SNAP) benefits are being delayed for millions of Californians.

If you need help:
📞 Call 2-1-1
🥫 Visit cafoodbanks.org/shutdown
📍 Find food banks in AD-14: a14.asmdc.org/food-assistance-resources

No one should go hungry because of Washington gridlock.

It was wonderful to tour the People’s Park Housing site & see this long-overdue project moving forward on schedule.

By creating homes for more than 1,000 students, we’re easing the campus housing crunch, stabilizing rents, & strengthening the surrounding community — a win for everyone.

Great morning at Berkeley’s Emerson Elementary for Int’l Walk & Roll to School Day — so many students starting their day w/fresh air & community!

Special thanks to everyone who donated helmets in appreciation of Mr. Bob, a beloved volunteer whose own helmet recently saved his life.

This law is about dignity and fairness for the people who keep California moving.

With AB 1340, drivers finally have a meaningful seat at the table to stand together, bargain for better pay + protections, & help build a gig economy that works for the people behind the wheel.

Quantum will define the future — and w/AB 940, California is claiming its place at the forefront.

Thank you @governor.ca.gov for signing this bill to position CA to lead in quantum innovation, create good-paying jobs, and unlock immense economic value for our state.

Big thanks to everyone who came out for our Wildfire Preparedness Day in El Cerrito! From evacuation planning to home hardening, AD-14 showed up ready to prepare.

Deep gratitude to my constituents and to our local elected officials who joined us — you help make our district stronger and safer.

Too often, we talk about wildfires after the damage is done. Let’s flip that script.

AD-14 residents, join me Aug. 16 at El Cerrito City Hall for a free, family-friendly event with experts, local fire chiefs, resources, and kids’ activities. RSVP: asmdc.org/bz-wildfire

Hard to see me in this photo, but I’m proud to be part of it — standing with @seiuca.bsky.social after presenting AB 1340, legislation that would give hundreds of thousands of rideshare drivers in California the right to unionize. Passed Senate Labor this morning 4-1!

From Wilma Chan Park and the streets of Oakland to peaceful protests nationwide, our message is clear: power belongs to the people. We reject authoritarianism — because in this country, there are no kings.

Why is it so hard to build housing in CA — and what are we doing about it? I joined @kqednews.kqed.org Political Breakdown this week to dig into the roadblocks to building infill housing, the pressures driving families out of state, & more.

Thrilled to honor @safgirls.bsky.social as AD-14’s Nonprofit of the Year! They’re lighting a spark for thousands of kids across the East Bay — bringing hands-on STEM education to the classroom and breaking barriers for the next generation of scientists and engineers.

Big win yesterday: AB 609 got off the Floor unanimously, 67-0.

This is a major step forward for permitting reform & for building the housing we desperately need. With AB 609 & the Fast Track Housing Package, we’re cutting red tape, speeding up good projects & proving that progress is possible.

By championing the strongest CEQA reforms in decades, @governor.ca.gov is showing that CA is ready to meet this moment.

Building housing in environmentally responsible locations will tackle our housing crisis, advance our climate goals & deliver on the promise of a government that solves problems.

Proud to stand shoulder to shoulder w/600K rideshare workers by introducing AB 1340. This fight is about dignity, respect, and the power to organize for better wages & safer conditions.

Drivers, I’m honored to be in the trenches w/you in the fight for a job as fair as it is essential.

Today we unveiled #CALeg 's Fast Track Housing package — a bipartisan/bicameral push for clearer rules, faster timelines, & fewer bureaucratic hoops.

We're saying yes to housing, to progress, and to a government that solves problems instead of creating them.

Proud to honor Jane Garcia as AD-14’s Woman of the Year!

As CEO of La Clínica de La Raza for 40+ years, she's expanded access to high-quality, culturally appropriate healthcare for >83,000 patients across three counties. Her dedication has transformed community health — and countless lives.

We refuse to let the chaos and cruelty from the White House threaten the well-being of our residents. This legal defense fund is California’s decisive stand against federal overreach, ensuring we remain a beacon of justice and equality.

The votes I took today represent something bigger than politics – they’re about standing up for the Constitution, for the Rule of Law, and for our most vulnerable communities.

Cecile Richards was a giant. When I was growing up in national politics, she was the one we all looked up to. Strong, graceful and no nonsense, she had a spine of steel and didn’t suffer fools. Her impact was profound — she showed generations of women how to lead in the face of adversity.

Yesterday we broke ground on Legacy Court in North Richmond — a vital project over two decades in the making.

With affordable homes for families and vulnerable neighbors, this is what community investment looks like. Grateful to CHDC, Eden Housing & all who made it possible.

Now part of Larkin Street Youth Services, its impact will expand to provide essential resources & opportunities for unhoused youth in the East Bay. Congratulations on this milestone!
