I'm curious if they might offer the option to opt out of allowing subs on a non-affiliate channel, and about how they'll handle ads - if they put ads on non-affiliate channels earning subs, if they allow you to not run ads if you opt out of subs maybe, or if they'll be baked in to every channel now?

I know it'll probably have some drawbacks like they might run ads on non-affiliate channels, but personally I think ads are not the worst tradeoff if it means being able to monetize what would otherwise be completely free content

Not in the icky follow for follow way - but by giving people the ability to sub when they may not have been able to otherwise because maybe they don't have any expendable income to sub, but if they receive subs as a non-affiliate then they have site currency to be able to sub in other communities

I wonder if this will maybe help promote more networking among small streamers just starting out too - if you can get subs and can't get paid out but can use it on the site, then I wonder if non-affiliates will use it to sub to other non-affiliates and help each other's communities grow that way?
