i’m a bit disappointed that i couldn’t draw and share something nice today, especially since life has thrown me some hard curveballs lately and i was hoping for a feel good post.

i have found some very good tutorials on drawing landscapes, i really need to find some on drawing people, animals, and buildings. maybe that’ll be my new year’s resolution.

i don’t know how to draw people and i haven’t taken the time to learn yet, but i wanted to play around with various martial arts poses. i had a lot of fun, but trying not to mess up too much was so stressful i was literally sweating. lol.

my journal drawing for the day.

it’s been forever since i drew any insects, so i figured i’d try my hand on drawing a picture i came across of a beetle on a carrot flower. at first i thought the attempt would drive me crazy, but i actually had fun.

drew a bus stop late last night, forgot the benches though

i was mostly working on experimenting with layers and depth, while also practicing on drawing a manmade object (which i struggle with)

i think if i studied the photo for just a minute or two longer, i would have chosen to draw something else

the young trees really made it a hard perspective to draw

perhaps i would have even been better off to have left them out altogether

tried my hand at drawing a grassy pond area, first in color then in black and white, quickly and abstractly

the black and white turned out better because i learned from my mistakes with the color drawing

not pleased with either, but i also don’t hate them

and because i'm not so worried about trying to get as many observations as possible, i'm really starting to enjoy my time outdoors again

i didn't see much today, but what i did see i genuinely appreciated

it was a lovely first snowfall of the season and i'm glad i went out to enjoy it

now instead of trying to find as many species as i can, i let myself really take as much time as possible to get the best shots i can of the birds i do see, which allows me to appreciate them more

at the same time, i've started to work on learning how to do landscape photography as well
