I could see this being applied successfully in areas like digital forensics. Very cool.

I'm okay with that. Arguing at 3am probably doesn't lend us the best emotional judgment either. I appreciate the gesture.
August 13, 2025 at 4:29 PM
But it seems like you got fed up with me disagreeing with you and just decided to start insulting me instead at a specific point last night.
August 13, 2025 at 4:11 PM
And yes, I got a little frustrated when you decided to question my real world experience and the value of my opinion by saying that I must've learned it on chatgpt anyways. I lost my cool a little bit there, which I shouldn't have.
August 13, 2025 at 4:11 PM
There's a difference between respecting opinions and respecting people. I've said that putting the Coast Guard back in the Department of Transportation would be stupid. I did not say the person saying that was a dumbass.
August 13, 2025 at 4:11 PM
Goddamn man, all I meant was that you would know about my reply, but other people reading through this thread might not know that the topic had moved to a different one. That's literally it. Jesus.
August 13, 2025 at 4:03 PM
There's a specific point at which you stopped actually discussing the DHS with me and just started attacking me. It's unbecoming.
August 13, 2025 at 4:00 PM
I'm also in the army. Yeah, I'm also in college.

And god damn, when I'm your age I hope I would've learned some respect.

"You're just some some punk college kid"
"You learned this on chatgpt"
"I don't care about you or what you say"
"You use big words just to sound smart"
August 13, 2025 at 4:00 PM
But somehow 7 hours later you reply within 5 minutes lmao.
August 13, 2025 at 3:58 PM
Well, that means you're manually checking back to see if I said anything, which sounds even more involved if I'm not that important. Regardless, whether or not you get notifications was not the point of that comment.
August 13, 2025 at 3:48 PM
My side? You know nothing about the nuances of my political views but go ahead and generalize me so I'm easier to malign.
August 13, 2025 at 6:36 AM
Nothing else to say other than 'well this conversation didn't matter anyways'.

Classy. It's okay to disagree, but this is unsightly.
August 13, 2025 at 6:33 AM
I meant in the app, but if you wanna make an ass out of yourself in public I won't stop you.
August 13, 2025 at 6:32 AM
I'm in the military dumbfuck.
August 13, 2025 at 6:31 AM
I just left a reply on my other sub thread you responded to making the same point. (Mostly for spectators, I know you get notified)
August 13, 2025 at 5:40 AM
But they were also underfunded during their time in the DOT. I'd say the DHS is a good fit.
August 13, 2025 at 5:38 AM
Interesting, I thought you wanted them back in the Department of Transportation because that "worked fine"

Besides, their primary role is policing, unlike every other armed force in the U.S.

That alone is probably enough of a reason to throw them in a branch with other federal police forces...
August 13, 2025 at 5:38 AM
Just because "it ain't broke" doesn't mean it can't work better. In any case the coast guard "ain't broke" now, but "fixing it" by removing them from the DHS seems to be what you're advocating for.
August 13, 2025 at 5:34 AM
Appeal to tradition is like the oldest trick on the conservative handbook. You should know better.
August 13, 2025 at 5:27 AM
Regardless of how the executive branch is organized, the Trump administration is at the head of it, and they are who are responsible for the policy changes that we are so against.
August 13, 2025 at 4:27 AM
It's been the courts and congress it's always been the courts and congress. Whether or not the FBI or the CIA is part of the DHS, they are part of the Executive Branch. I don't think gathering them into a department is somehow making it easier for them to get away with shit.
August 13, 2025 at 4:27 AM
For example, I don't think we have an entirely independent judiciary right now, and that is a major problem.
August 13, 2025 at 4:23 AM
Not only do I think it doesn't matter, but I think worrying about it is actively unproductive. The issue has always been the people in charge and the policies they're pushing as well as insufficient checks and balances.
