The UK government didn't want you to see this report on ecosystem collapse. I'm not surprised | George Monbiot
It took an FOI request to bring this national security assessment to light. For ‘doomsayers’ like us, it is the ultimate vindication, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

I've been whining on Bluesky too much. There comes a time where you have to unsubscribe, disconnect, and find a way to preserve your soul from the disasters of the world and those that would intentionally steer you towards rage.

I have my issues with Carney, as others probably do, but this speech was the first deep breath of fresh air in too long. No nuance or capitulation. Finally, an honest discussion. Transcript here:
Carney’s Message to the World: The Rules No Longer Protect You | The Walrus
In a blunt Davos address, the prime minister warns middle powers must prepare for a harsher geopolitical reality

This image is straight from the government of Canada website. NATO and Canadian Forces in partnership. To see Canada’s name missing from the list of tariff targets is an embarrassment. Be on the right side of history, Carney.

There is definitely a tone shift at #CBC towards critical coverage of the Trump administration. I do appreciate this Stechyson article, even if they refuse to outright call out fascism. Serve the people CBC. Call out fascism.
'Wine moms' are being blamed for the ICE protests. We've heard this one before | CBC News
Fox News posted a column on Sunday singling out "organized gangs of wine moms" for Renee Good's death at the hands of ICE agents. It's part of what experts say is a bigger, concerning and familiar cha...

Every person on Bluesky should know:
* Every post on Bluesky is PUBLIC forever
* Every post on Bluesky is archived by ICE, NSA, and many other agencies
* Even if you delete a post, it’s already been captured
* Judges don’t care if you were “kidding” or being ironic

As I watch America mourn for that mother, I ask: how many people have to die? How many innocents will be killed before Americans take real action?

NATO is dead. Let's stop pretending. Canada and Europe have a decision to make - whether we will stand together or give in to the Trump/Putin axis of evil.
It's time to draw the line in Greenland and push the gangsters back.

Today I recognize that I am grateful for Blue Sky. It's not perfect, and its owners make dumb decisions, but it is better than the current state of Twitter, and for that I am thankful.

I'm thinking about how shock value is a domineering feature of social media. The current radicalization of political parties, and individuals, is entirely a consequence of social media exposure. Legacy media was once a partial filter for extreme and offensive opinions, dictating a careful decorum.

Very awesome that America is working towards circumventing the Canadian oil market and economically strangling our country AND the CPC and Pierre Poilievre are cheering them on the entire way. Very Conservative. So concerned for our economy. 🙄

Europe fails to acknowledge that #NATO is already dead and world order is over. The US is an unreliable partner that will only further its own interests in a crisis. The America that the founding fathers knew is dead. Americans don't even understand the monster that they have created.

I'm old.

If you're not, listen to this.

Get a guitar or some drums, or a trumpet. Pick up a brush, a pencil, some clay or a welder.

Just make shit. It doesn't have to be good (eventually it will be) just make music, art or write or whatever.

It's literally never been more important.
