Grumpy Brazilian lad who enjoys vidya and anniemays. Ys fanboy, likes plastic robots.
Meanwhile jumped on 2.7 and did the 1st half of it and I'm really not feeling it, either. Again, the cutscenes are awesome, but everthing else simply hasn't clicked at all. It feels so convoluted at the start and then it feels like it drags around with stuff that someone thought was cool but isn't.

But, hey, praise where praise is due, the team keeps leveling up where the cutscenes are concerned. That whole bit with Iuno vs Big Baddies at the end of her portion of the story looked WICKEDLY cool, and totally would've made me roll on her, lol.

The cutscene animation/direction is top notch atm

Which is to say, this is still one of my biggest gripes with WuWa's writing. The moment to moment stuff works for the most part, and the devs are incredibly capable of making COOL stuff, but they also have such a hard time at keeping the characters they write all feel relevant and involved...

...Augusta and Iuno were the ones who really hit it off before, and had a true bond. The stuff with Rover just feels like waifu bait and sure, I get it, he's the MC and shit, but there really was no point to having this be all about him and her and not including Augusta imo.
January 4, 2026 at 7:41 PM
At the same time, as soon as patch changed and Iuno's story kicked off, the game so unapologetically brushed Augusta aside that it was funny, lol. For all intents and purposes, completely forgetting she exists and focusing solely on Rover felt like a really bad decision, especially since...

I don't want to go into mega spoilers so I'll try to be vague, but the big scene with Iuno before the Sovereign fight feels kinda hollow because the writers didn't really build it up very well, and context for it only gets added later, during HER patch, lol. It felt just so weird.

Still, they're trying different things, and the more robust events like the Summer one (that got us a whole new area) and even this YSG event from 2.5 are steps in the right direction, because they feel like they're trying to connect the areas to the stories once again.

Aside from Failume Heights, there's almost no incentive to visit other places, mostly because they only really have things in them when the main story takes you there. Compared to the flavour added by all the Officer Mew missions in S1, the world definitely feels a bit less interesting as a result.
January 4, 2026 at 4:24 AM
...to the balance having shifted too much in favour of the main plot as opposed to the world building that was present in S1 in each and every area we visited. I feel like the removal of TV mode has unfortunately negatively impacted this part of the game, and devs haven't managed to figure that out.

Here's the lads who are accompanying me through NG+. Main team...

Since I grabbed all the DLC avaible, completing my Field Guide and leveling up my team to 99/9999 stats was quite painless, altho I imagine it'd have been pretty easy even without that, if slightly more time consuming. Rocking a good mix of the goon + cool/meme Digimon, lol.
December 26, 2025 at 1:25 AM
My boys at Media Vision just know how to do these things, and I had a real blast. A fitting end for a really cool game, that manages to be both a cool JRPG AND also scratch that itch for monster collecting, altho more in a SMT-ish way than Pokémon.

Kicked off my NG+ run and gonna run through Mega+.
December 26, 2025 at 1:24 AM
That actually took way longer than I expected since I unlocked 541241515 sidequests and I decided I was gonna get a team ready for Mega+ before doing the final boss.

Still, finally beat it and it was AWESOME. Really cool final boss in general, in gameplay, music, presentation, you name it.

Rocking my party consisting mainly of "waifu Digimon" and "anime MC" Digimon because I'm basic like that, the neuron gets activated easily. But I really want to use Imperialdramon FM, so I'm considering using something like Mastemon to reduce holy resistance to help out the fact he's a Free type...

I'm particularly fond of the evolution system, because while I know a lot of Digimon from the anime, I always have no clue where they evolve from and as such just pressing evolution on a silhouette to see who it is becomes fun by itself, lol. And the game has systems to make that easy and painless.
December 18, 2025 at 10:45 AM
In the end the bug didn't go away and I caved and bought it full price, lol. Like 30ish hours in, just unlocked the "Akashic Vision", and I'm having a good time. The writing still feels a bit hit or miss for me, but everything else about the game is pretty fun, especially all the Digimon themselves.

Would that Sony would give Kaneko a call and be like "yo I see that Kickstarter is going a bit rough, how about we get together again and we hire Media Vision to help out with Armed Fantasia, I mean, Wild ARMs 6"

guy can dream....
