Definitely not a prude and I feel the same way. Loved the game but some of it feels like it’s trying really hard to be “Not your dad’s superheroes!”, which would probably be more biting in a world that didn’t already have three Deadpool movies and multiple spinoffs of The Boys.

We all live in exactly the same political moment as Columbia's senior leadership, and we all make our choices about standing up for principle or folding to fascists, just as you do. Most of us, however, do it with far fewer resources than you do. Acting President Shipman writes, "we carefully explored all options open to us. We might have achieved short-term litigation victories, but not without incurring deeper long-term damage—the likely loss of future federal funding, the possibility of losing accreditation, and the potential revocation of visa status of thousands of international students." This sentence reveals your underlying assumptions: you are banking on a future where the lawless behavior of this administration persists, where accommodating that behavior is the way to maintain your authority, and where the rule of law and the foundations of free inquiry are always going to be secondary to an autocrat's whims. Leaving aside how deeply unlikely it is that you've actually ended this saga, given what we know about how the Trump administration goes back on its word--in accommodating that behavior instead of viewing it as illegitimate, you yourself legitimize lawless behavior, and you make an autocratic future more likely. For the rest of us, the deeper long-term damage will be to the University's reputation, because there will be a political moment after this one, and in that political moment, there will be political and legal accountability for this administration's crimes, and Columbia's leadership will carry with them the legacy of having bet against a free society."
