In the US "Libertarian" means someone who supports unrestricted capitalism, and is on the far right.

In other countries it's short for "Libertarian Socialism," or Anarchism, which is about as far away as it gets from that, although (US) libertarians are obsessed with making them look similar.

Of course, if we redid the tax code to strip out the endless attempts to do jam public policy into it then the IRS could probably just send most people with wages a notice saying "you probably owe us this much" too, which would be... bad?
