The fact I never had a true school recess because you either ate in the 20 minutes they gave you n it took 20 minutes to get a lunch because the lines were so long vs they punished the entire school cafeteria and locked the doors so you wouldn't go outside because you were too loud is... hmm

the knives out movies are good because they don't focus on the detective, but that's because it's an old staple *of the mystery genre* and not a random choice. a lot of new mystery stories focus on fleshing out the detective & giving their whole life story, but a lot of classics aren't like that.
