Pro-Science Progressive. 💙 Until Nov 2024, I was enjoying a fun 'second act' after 3 decades in science information. Now, I'm feeding my mind with truth and my soul with acts of service. "Aimer, c'est agir." ("To love is to act." Victor-Marie Hugo, 1885)

I want our young people to know that there is a path forward, that a better world is possible. I don't want them to give up, to become cynical. They deserve to be young and full of optimism. They are owed a world that supports and sustains optimism.

With luck, turning into someone like Anna Mary Robertson Moses (1860-1961). I have a bit of time before needing to ramp up my productivity. "Grandma" Moses started really cranking out the work around age 78.
Black & white photograph of American folk artist Anna Mary Robertson Moses, better known as Grandma Moses. In the photo, Grandma Moses, wearing a floral print apron, is seated on a chair in a room, in front of a curtained window. She holds a paintbrush in her right hand and a canvas on her lap. We the People will not bow down to tyrants. We will respond by getting in good trouble instead.

On July 17, five years since the passing of Congressman John Lewis, communities are coming together.

Because #GoodTroubleLivesOn. See you in the streets 📣

What to the Slave is the Fourth of July? - Frederick Douglass, 5 July 1852 - "The blessings in which you, this day, rejoice, are not enjoyed in common. ...This Fourth July is yours, not mine. You may rejoice, I must mourn."
An artistic rendering of the Statue of Liberty. She is seated, in tears, holding her head in her hands in despair. Completely surrounding her seated figure is a metal cage. In the background is New York Harbor with boats and Lower Manhattan in the distance.

This is a really important point. Most Medicaid recipients likely have NO idea that they’re about to lose their coverage.

Recently, I drove by four armed men (police? sheriff? ICE? DHS? bounty hunters?), wearing badges & bulletproof vests, stealthily approaching a house through its tall hedge. As responsible citizens, how are we to differentiate legitimate policing from politically driven kidnapping? #ReclaimDemocracy
