The move comes after a grand jury refused to hand up an indictment in the case, a defense attorney told the @chicago.suntimes.com. Richard Kling cited the old expression that a good prosecutor could convince a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich.

Shelters that house unaccompanied minors are bracing for "Freaky Friday," the start of an ICE operation that will first issue letters to children, seeking to pressure them to return to the countries they've fled in exchange for a cash payment. If they decline, their parents will be targeted by ICE.

I should say a "gas canister." One witness told me they experienced extreme irritation to their eyes and difficulty breathing, so it sounds like tear gas. That's a busy street in the middle of the day, lots of people milling about outside.

Until June 24, the rule for holding immigrants at Broadview was 12 hours. Then the Trump Admin quietly changed the rule, increasing the max to 72 hours. And still they're holding people beyond that time as well.
