We focused on the rapid proliferation of license plate readers and adoption of real-time crime center systems, but police spent loads on other tech.

For instance, police in Oak Brook, Countryside, North Riverside, and Willowbrook bought handheld & vehicle-mounted StarChase GPS launchers.
Image of a StarChase handheld GPS launcher. A yellow and black, mostly plastic device that resembles a rifle. Comes with a laser-sight, runs on batteries and uses compressed air to shoot cylindrical projectiles that stick to vehicles to track their location real-time.

A protester heckles over the free speech zone. Pretty much everyone dispersing now.

ISP says they are opening the roadway so protesters should leave so they don’t get hit by cars.

They’ve pushed the crowd back so that a park is behind us instead of homes. Presumably in case they disperse chemical munitions.

There are currently children playing in the park. Unclear if ISP realizes that.

Many protesters have dispersed. Maybe 50 left, hard to tell with so much press.

ISP has been holding this line across 25th for the past 15-20 min.

At least a few arrests. ISP getting violent and issued dispersal orders.

They just said we may be subject to dispersal of chemical agents.

After ordering people out of the street, ISP cleared the entire “free speech” zone into the street before “curfew.”

Again today, local police outside Broadview just aggressively arrested more protesters. Tough to tell exactly how many, but looks like 3-4 people were just detained.

Despite the ongoing horrors, protesters have been met with pretty much non-stop honks of support from drivers and truckers passing by this morning.

People here have been periodically begging local police to stop them, to "do something." One protester is crying.

Another caravan (including the ICE SUV) departs. Seeing more Border Patrol inside.

A van with visible captives inside just returned.

"Those are people!" someone shouts.

More vehicles with masked Border Patrol agents inside departing. It's a busy, busy morning for the secret police.

While this is going on here, ICE has been spotted on foot + in vehicles across SW + NW sides of Chicago. Can't verify reports rn, but also presuming suburbs. Yesterday was brutal. It's not lost on us they have more agents free for weekend kidnappings now with their facility secured by state police.

As I observed in my Substack Round Up this past week, the endgame of the military strikes against drug cartels in international waters is to lay the groundwork to use lethal military force against Americans at home. Pay attention open.substack.com/pub/asharang...

I get that we all get had here and there. It happens to even the most careful people. That said, when it comes to AI generated slop - please don't make it, share it, or amplify it. Not only are you helping to poison the water supply of whole communities, but you're helping to destroy our brains.

"even if it's AI, it's at least true" hard to overstate the damage this stuff is doing to people's brains. we're gonna be cleaning the slop out of archives for decades

Broadview police chief Mills and ISP were examining some documents last night before targeting one protester in a small, completely non-disruptive crowd for a bag search. Looks like they're brushing up on ~policy~

Oh this is in areas that are just the nws version of that. Tons of cops, firefighters, and other city workers.

Various versions of this are increasingly popular north of here too.
