@mrjamesob.bsky.social finally a Brexit benefit, the bendy bananas are gone!

Who needs an €800billion defense fund!

As a very (x10) amateur historian I do enjoy hearing people compare the current situation to the Second World War because they try and compare instances unique to that war to this time and you can’t. You can draw parallels to timelines of events absolutely.

To me we are early-mid 30s I’ll explain🧵

While Nissan slowing things down at the Sunderland plant is worrying, introducing the Nissan Juke to the world deserves punishment. Awful to drive, ugly to look at inside and out, no space at all, just pointless.

The PM has made a very good speech today. @newsagents.bsky.social will be a cracking episode. @lewisgoodall.com question for you and the pod.

Does this shift represent the UK setting a leading trend for other European nations, or buckling to whims Trump?

The reality of Watson going has many dimensions. It’s an opportunity for him and the club.

It’s a crying shame a local lad is leaving however, that’s football, it’s a business and money talks.

The club also has to consider his value, this may be the best opportunity to make money from him.

I see over on X #SAFC have sold half the squad.

If you’ve ever watched the series Chernobyl you’ll understand how Trump wants to run government. It’s not a meritocracy. It’s a “please make me look good” authoritarian state. As long as someone can be blamed. It doesn’t matter

It feels very bizarre watching Portsmouth considering the battles we had with them in League 1. Used to be a fixture I’d worry about…
January 28, 2025 at 9:30 PM
A lot of talk on X around abusing podcasters/creators around #SAFC.

There’s a few trains of thought for me. As hard as it can be, it’s best to ignore “unfair criticism”. However, when you put content out there, you open yourself up to fair and unfair criticism.

Fully appreciate that commentators make mistakes. However, when I’ve heard Mayenda called Isidor 5 times and Trai Hume called Denver Hume it’s borderline unprofessional
January 21, 2025 at 8:23 PM
It’s nice to watch this goal again, the pass from Mayenda isn’t great, Isidor does unbelievably well. That touch passed the defender is genius, and the finish is brilliant, not much space to get that into.
January 2, 2025 at 12:38 PM
I’ve seen a few #SUFC complain about 2nd goal. Claim they gave the ball away cheaply. I think it was actually a good effective press.

Neither CB is in a position to get the ball because they are marked, the CM is the best pass, Roberts, keeps his head down, he can’t go back to the GK either
January 2, 2025 at 12:36 PM
Wilson Isidor though…that touch, magical stuff

Eliezer Menyada, I’d like to apologise, I spent the last week questioning you, please forgive me

While NICs may be a slight factor, simple fact is, profiteering from businesses has never been higher. Oil giants making billions, energy companies making billions. It’s not economic uncertainty. It’s “how can we make more money in the current circumstances”

The easiest way is to cut staff
Rise in employer NICs likely already feeding through to firms hiring/shedding workers.

Private sector employment in December fell by more than during any month since January 2021. UK companies cutting employee numbers at the fastest rate since the pandemic.

A small rant on #MUFC with links to #SAFC

I think Amad is brilliant, he’s been a slow burner. His time at #SAFC was brilliant. It’s so nice to see him shine, but sad to know the odds of a return are slim to none.

I’ve thought for years, the problems at United stems from players.

#SAFC are mint aren’t they…

One look was all it took #SAFC

There needs to be an honest conversation about politics in this country. #Bluesky is lovely, but it cannot become a left wing paradise, like X is a right wing paradise.

It’s not here to oppose but to be an alternative. Stop treating as such
December 11, 2024 at 12:29 PM
I seen the same problem last night, when we played Preston, the front was unbalanced, Mayenda clearly has talent, does some great things, he’s not a winger though. However, he isn’t influential enough to be a solo striker.

Quite the issue for the young lad

#SAFC

Frustrating one tonight, seemed to be lacking a confidence at the moment. Think it will come back, up against a very stubborn side and we will have plenty of them. Think we are backing lacking experience in the engine room. What a player Dan Neil is though #SAFC

Feels like it’s been a while so some late night analysis from my perspective of #SAFC win against #SCFC

First up, watch this video a couple of times.

1. Cause Tommy Watson

2. Not one #SCFC player seems to notice anything but Paddy Roberts.
December 9, 2024 at 10:59 PM
I’d argue that #SAFC looked back to our best for about 60/70 mins in the game against Stoke.

Moved the ball well, caused Stoke all sorts of problems. Our back line did seem to be caught out a few times though.

Fought through the frustration and got a good result. Lots to be positive about.
December 8, 2024 at 10:14 PM
Good win for #SAFC yesterday, arguably should have won by 4 or 5 in truth.

However, after 6 games without a win (1 loss in that time is still impressive) it doesn’t matter how you win.

Obviously, great for Tommy Watson as well by the way, a lot of talent in that boy.

The standards which this Labour government are being held too compared to the last 5 years of Tory Governement are insane. @lewisgoodall.com @maitlis.bsky.social and @jonsopel1.bsky.social are execellent journalists. But the fact Grant Shapps was barely scrutinised and he ran a pyramid scheme…
